- Why do I not have access to the specification of a configurable drive unit (e.g. based on a DCX or ECX motor)?
Solution:
Any configurable (so called "CTO - Configure to Order") drive solution holds configuration details which had been selected by a maxon customer based on the requirements of a specific machine or device. The resulting custom or application specific motor combination and all documentation is regarded by maxon as part of our customer's IP (= "Intellectual Property") which has to be protected. maxon just provides access to this data to the "owner" (= original requester) but not to a third party.
If you are the "owner" of the requested part number (e.g. B7...), please log in the configuration tool. Use the same account information ( = e-mail address) which had been in use when you had originally configured the motor combination. If the configuration tool identifies you as the "owner", the complete specification with all data sheets can be downloaded by a link.
If you are not the "owner" of the requested motor combination, please try to figure out who has configured this unit initially (e.g. one of your colleagues?) and ask this person about the data sheet. If you do not succeed, please ask your local maxon partner. It should be possible for them to clarify internally who is the "owner" of the part number. If it is somebody of your company, maxon might be allowed to share the specification with you too or maxon can at least try to get the allowance to share it with you.
This access restriction was requested by lots of customers and helps to protect the details about the drive solutions in use by their machines and devices. Probably this is also one of your concerns too if you design your CTO motor combination once and want to keep the specification and your intellectual property safe. Thanks for your understanding.
