maxon provides the statutory warranty of quality and title for all newly manufactured goods for a period of 12 months from passing of the risk. Repair or replacement shall not prolong the original warranty period.
This does not apply to the following cases of improper use or for defects deriving from non-compliance with the standard specifications for maxon products No. 100 to No. 103.
Possible root causes of damaged controllers, encoders, hall sensors which are not covered by warranty:
- Exchanged supply voltage polarity.
- Far too high supply voltage.
- Damaged housings, components (esp. connectors), or cables.
- Any dismounting, modification, or unauthorised repair service of the controller's electronics.
Possible root causes of damaged motors, gears, spindles which are not covered by warranty:
- Any damage due to overload or operation outside the specification, e.g. …
- Burnt or blocked motor windings due to too high currents over a too long period of time.
Hint:
Ensure that motor type and the specified "Nominal current" and "Thermal time constant of the winding" present in the motor's data sheet is configured properly by maxon's controller software (-> "Startup" wizard). - Damaged motors (or bearings) due to a too high speed operation.
Hint:
Take care of the specified "Max. speed" of the motor and do not configure a speed limit higher than this by maxon's controller software (-> "Startup" wizard). - Damaged gears due to a too input speed.
Hint:
Take care of the "Max. input speed" specified in the gear's data sheet and do not configure a speed limit higher than this by maxon's controller software (-> "Startup" wizard).
- Burnt or blocked motor windings due to too high currents over a too long period of time.
- Any damage of the housings, the shaft, the bearing, the flange, connectors, and cables.
- Any dismounting or modification of components (e.g. motor, gear, encoder, brake, cables) of a maxon combination.
These are no complete lists and just mention typical root causes of damages which will not be handled by warranty. We always check any returned unit and try to find out the root cause of the damage.
maxon can choose whether it wants to remove the defects or deliver a replacement. A reduction in the purchase price and the cancellation of the contract can only be claimed after maxon has been unsuccessfully requested to remove the defects and has also been sent a reminder in this regard. The payment of damages instead of the delivery of a replacement is excluded.
Warranty claims must be asserted against maxon by way of declaration. The customer has to notify all warranty claims to maxon 's representative in the customer's country of residence pursuant to the list provided at “maxon worldwide” or the information given in the order confirmation.
The above statements on the subject of "warranty" are generally held and informative. The "General Terms and Conditions" accepted when buying the products are finally decisive.
