Topic:
How can I update the firmware on a MACS controller?
Situation:
You would like to perform a firmware update to...
-
...have new features available on the controller,
-
...configure a Net port (e.g. MiniMACS6 Ethernet/ EtherCAT),
-
...fix a bug on the controller,
you can do this using the ApossIDE development environment. Firmware updates are only recommended in case of necessity.
Solution:
A firmware file is required for updating the MACS controller. From the MACS6 series upwards, it is a *.zfc file (Zub Firmware Container). This file can be requested via the Support Center.
To perform the firmware update, proceed as follows:
- Open "ApossIDE".
-
Open the ApossIDE editing window by either creating a new program (*.mc or *.m), opening an existing application.
- Establish a connection to the desired control. The controller can be selected with the menu bar Development → Select Controller or via the icon Connect in the toolbar.
- The desired firmware can be selected via the menu bar Controller → Download Firmware.
- The update process may take a few minutes. Do not switch off the controller during this time.
